The new True Professional Series
The new True Professional Series
The season premiere of Spike TVs series Bar Rescue featured renown nightlife consultant Jon Taffer trying to save the Piratz Tavern in Silver Spring, MD from sinking. Among the improvements Taffer brought to the fledgling establishment were self-serve beer providers furnished by Ellickson Beverage Systems USA, the leading provider of innovative technologies that enhance the commercial performance and social dynamic of bars, restaurants, and other establishments. The companys products, making their television debut, helped the bar owners create a unique experience with patrons by offering self-service draft beer tables where customers were able to pour their own pint.
Bringing new energy to the bars front room, the Piratz Tavern became the areas first establishment to offer self-service beer. The bar featured three of the Ellickson Draft Tables. Each table is equipped with two taps on a rotating tower so customers simply twist the taps toward themselves and pour a beer when they want it. The Ellickson Draft Tables are expected to increase beer sales and save money from loss of unwanted beer.
We are huge fans of Bar Rescue and were thrilled to have our Draft Table technology featured on the show, stated Declan Duggan, CEO of Ellickson Beverage Systems USA. Our customers are realizing 100% profitability from every keg, instead of the typical 15% loss usually seen behind the bar. The Draft Tables help to manage the flow of beer and maximize profits. Its a perfect match for all Bar Rescue-type establishments.
The Draft Tables are operated by a fob and measure the volume poured. The tables i-button technology enables staff to permit and limit the amount of beer that can be self-served. With use of the beer button, customers can open the tap and pour what they would like, up to a two beer limit.

Its not every day that a bar allows patrons to pour their own beer, but at the Tap Shack in Newport Beach, CA customers will see a lot more of those days. This month, the Tap Shack debuted two new self-service beer columns and two mobile Draft Table tables from Ellickson Beverage Systems USA, the leading provider of innovative technologies that enhance the commercial performance and social dynamic of bars, restaurants, and other establishments.
As one of the newest bars to hit Newport Beach, Tap Shack was looking to spice up the bar scene and offer locals a cutting-edge place to hang with friends and family. The new Draft Tables enable patrons to pour their own beer with 20 different beers on tap in a highly controlled environment. Each table comes equipped with two taps on a rotating tower so customers simply twist the taps toward themselves and pour.
When we looked to open Tap Shack, we wanted to give local bar goers something fun and new, stated Eli Atol, one of the owners of Tap Shack. Self-service beer is ingenious. With the Draft Tables, our staff is able to easily control the amount of beer dispensed and to whom (legal age is still required!) in a legal and responsible way. Best of all, it gives our customers the ability to control their experience and enjoy what makes Tap Shack so great.
Located on the bars outside patio, the Draft Tables are monitored by the ounce and are operated by an i-button that allow staff to permit and limit the amount of beer that can be self-served. With a tap of the button, customers can open the tap and pour what they would like, up to a two beer limit.

This week on Spike TV, the Bar Rescue series featured Ellickson Beverage Systems USAs BevDok product, the first and only automated soda gun sanitizer in the world designed to address the unsolved, industry-wide issue of unsanitary soda gun dispensers. Hosted by renown nightlife consultant Jon Taffer, this weeks episode showcased Taffer helping to fix a dirty, binge-drinking bar, Murphys Law, owned by two fraternity brothers in Fells Point, Maryland. In addition to Murphys Law, BevDok was also installed at Piratz Tavern (yo-ho-ho and a bottle of dumb episode) and The Bamboo Beach Tiki Bar (Tiki Curse episode); both establishments were featured in this seasons first two respectively.
Among the improvements Taffer brought to Murphys was BevDok . A disturbingly large number of soda guns are not cleaned properly, leading to high levels of microbes, bacteria and pathogenic microorganisms that breed in the soda guns. The bacteria contaminate the liquid as its poured. This puts patrons at risk with each glass of soda or mixed drink. BevDok allows bars and restaurants to serve bacteria-free beverages to customers. This FDA approved product removes dangerous build-up that causes significant health risks while improving the taste and quality of the beverage served.
As bar owner supporters, we are big fans of Bar Rescue, stated Declan Duggan, CEO of Ellickson Beverage Systems USA. Customers often get more than they bargain for when they order a glass of soda at a restaurant. In addition to the drink itself, patrons are also drinking E-Coli, salmonella, listeria, spores, molds and microbes. Its one of the dirty secrets in the food business. Our BevDok product ensures that drinks are served bacteria-free, making for a happy and healthier drinking environment.

HomeThangs.com the Home Improvement Super Store has made their goal to deliver the right product to the consumer, with that in mind, shopping and home design tips, as well as special product selections are being introduced.
For those who do a lot of entertaining and have a little extra space in a home, transforming a portion of it a basement, unused formal dining room, or spare living room into a bar or entertainment area is a good idea. But making a good, fully functional home bar is about more than just putting up a nice bar top and stools and busting out the cocktail shaker.
HomeThangs has introduced a guide to home bars for those who entertain a lot a checklist of what equipment to get and why.
1. Bar Sink
A bar sink is worth considering when it comes to building a home bar, either built into the prep station behind the bar or directly into the bar itself. Why? If bar is built in an odd space like a basement or even a garage one might not have an existing sink, which means having to leave the room to rinse fruit, wash glasses, or even to do a decent job of mopping down the bar.
Trough-style sinks like Allegany Bar Sink from Sierra Copper are great for a home bar. The hand pounded copper finish is beautiful enough to accent even a really nice bar top, its easy to clean, and its slightly sloped for easy draining.
2. Wine Cooler / Wine Cellar
A built in wine cooler can be an excellent addition to a home bar, especially for those who have more than a few bottles of wine on hand at a time. Ranging in size from smaller-than-a-mini-fridge to the size of a full refrigerator, wine coolers are great for keeping wine in a climate controlled environment to mature and at the ideal serving temperature. Larger models can hold upwards of 200 bottles in a motion-dampened, UV-proof, climate controlled space, and are an excellent alternative to full sized wine cellars. Smaller models do the same job for a dozen bottles or fewer, which is good for a more casual wine drinker. For someone with a medium sized, mixed selection, something like the Dual Zone wine cooler from Marvel that houses white and red wines in separate temperatures would be a good choice.
3. Kegerator
Entirely self contained, kegerators are essentially mini fridges (many of them can actually be converted back into fridges as needed) with a tap on top, room inside for a keg and a canister of CO2, and all the hardware to connect them all built in. Individual kegerators can have as many as 3 taps, though the more varieties of beer one wants to serve from a single kegerator, the smaller the kegs will need to be. The Half Keg Beer Dispenser by Marvel builds right in to the counter and can hold a half keg of beer at the perfect serving temperature (just above freezing) for 2 months or 175 12 oz glasses.
Because they have their own built in, refillable CO2 supplies, home kegerators will store beer properly and at the ideal serving temperature, and offer both an authentic tap taste and an authentic tavern look and feel. The Dual Tap from Summit can be adjusted up to three taps in a variety of finishes - all modern steel or wood and brass for something with a little more pub style.
4. Beverage Cooler
There are a couple different kinds of beverage coolers the full sized ones like those in a mini mart, and smaller, under-the-counter types like Beverage Coolers by Summit Apliance, that are much better suited to a residential setting. For bottled beer, soda, mixers, or just spare water bottles, a beverage cooler is a good way to organize bottled or canned drinks and keep them cooled.
5. Ice Maker
This is the one appliance that flirts with frivolity. For those who serve a lot of mixed drinks, or host a lot of parties that last longer than one can keep the ice frozen, installing an ice machine like the Crescent Cube Ice Maker by Marvel into a bars prep area can save a lot of back and forth, and keep one fully stocked in ice all day and night.
6. Mini Fridge
Mini fridge is more versatile than almost any other home bar specific appliance, and when serving a party, chances are one is going to need a little chill cold drinks, cold mixers, chilled fruits for garnish, or even just a cheese or veggie platter or a tub of dip. Something like a Mini Fridge from Summit Appliance wont take up much space, can install either under the counter or anywhere else in the room, and only need a single outlet to function. Plus, some of them even have small freezers for a couple trays of ice.
HomeThangs.com is not only a home improvement superstore, it also provides expert design tips and a comprehensive shopping guide, taking the ideas from professional interior designers, and offering tips to the consumers on how to pick the products to best suit their needs.
Beer has its place in American tradition and one local bar has just given its patrons even more freedom when it comes to its beer. American Social allows customers to self-serve their beer. Its America at its finest.
Opening earlier this month, America Social lets bar goers live their dream of bartender, offering different beers on tap that customers can pour on their own. The bar features one six-tap beer wall, the first of its kind in Florida, and two four-tap Draft Tables from Ellickson Beverage Systems USA, the leading provider of innovative technologies that enhance the commercial performance and social dynamic of bars, restaurants, and other establishments.
When we opened American Social, we wanted to break tradition and offer a new opportunity for our customers, stated Paul Greenberg, owner of American Social. Letting our customers pour their own pints of beer reshapes the way beer is served. It gives our patrons the freedom to try different types of beer or create their own mix. Who knows what new draft will be created at our Draft Tables.
The American Social Beer Wall offers six taps. Each table comes equipped with four taps on a rotating tower (think sharing a pu pu platter at a chinese restaurant) so customers simply twist the taps toward themselves and pour a beer when they want it. Even better, customers can take just the amount of beer they want. No more leaving half a glass of beer on the table not that anyone will admit that theyve done that!
And, self-serving beer is as easy as using a key. Both the Beer Wall and Draft Tables are monitored by the ounce and are operated by an i-button that allow staff to permit and limit the amount of beer that can be self-served. With a tap of the button, customers can open the tap and pour what they would like, up to a two beer limit.

Kegs arent just for beer anymore. Wine in a keg is the hottest trend popping up in restaurants across the country.
Long popular in Europe, kegged wine has both environmental and economical advantages over its traditional, bottled relatives. A wine keg takes up far less packaging and storage space than the 26 bottles that hold the equivalent amount of wine. Wine kegs are reusable for more than 20 years, and dont require the bottles, corks, labels, and cases that bottled wine needs to be delivered.
Switching to kegs would mean keeping millions of bottles out of landfills every year. Kegs are also much lighter to transport than the equivalent amount of wine bottles. The reduced weight helps lower transportation carbon emissions. Currently, weight accounts for one third to one half of transportation carbon emissions in the wine industry.
Kegged wine is also more effective in reducing overhead cost. Wine by the glass accounts for 80% of a restaurants wine sales. But since opened bottles only keep fresh for a day or so, a typical restaurant loses 25% of its bottle profit by throwing out half-empty bottles that theyve sold only a glass or two from.
Kegged wine doesnt have this problem. When a keg is tapped, the contents are pressurized with an inert gas that doesnt react with the wine or affect taste. The pressurized wine keg system prevents oxygen from reaching the wine, therefore eliminating the process of oxidation.
In normal glass bottles, oxidation begins the moment the cork is removed and oxygen touches the wine. Allowing the wine to breathe in a glass or while sitting on the table is fine. Over time, an average bottle of red wine will get corked with oxygen filling the open space in the bottle. As a result of oxidation, the open bottle of wine goes bad within a week.
Kegged wine, due to its inert gases and pressurized system, stays fresh for up to a year. Restaurants that serve wine from a keg never have to worry about customers sending it back because the quality has decreased, and therefore enjoy higher sales as well as more satisfied patrons.
Restaurants interested in serving kegged wine will need the right equipment. Micro Matic has a large variety of wine certified components essential to having a great wine keg system in your bar or restaurant.
Micro Matics Pro-Line Wine Dual-Temperature Dispensing systems can hold four or eight wine kegs at a time, increasing efficiency and storage. These wine keg dispensing systems keep whites and reds at the ideal temperatures for serving: 45
This product is 3D-related. To help you get a great 3D experience, use the checklist below to ensure you have everything you need. 3D viewing requires:
A Display First, you'll need a 3D-ready display--whether it's a 3D HDTV, 3D projector, or 3D computer monitor. These displays have more processing power than standard 2D models for displaying 3D images in rapid succession.
A Source Your display may be ready for 3D playback, but you'll still need a device to read 3D content. This can be a cable box with a subscription to a 3D channel, a 3D Blu-ray Disc player, or a PlayStation 3 system.
3D Content 3D content--the actual entertainment, in other words--will be played back using the source mentioned above, whether it's a 3D broadcast from your cable provider, a 3D Blu-ray Disc, or a 3D video game.
3D Glasses For now, the vast majority of 3D HDTVs require glasses for 3D viewing. Many use powered "active shutter" glasses, others polarized "passive" glasses. You'll need one pair per viewer, and they'll have to be compatible with your display, whether they're the same brand, or a pair of "universal" glasses designed to work across brands.
HDMI Cable To connect your source (such as a 3D Blu-ray Disc player) to your display, you'll need a high-speed HDMI cable. Cables with this designation feature bandwidth speeds up to 10.2 Gbps (gigabits per second), for carrying the 3D signal without any loss of quality.
If you want to get more information about 3D, shop our 3D products, watch videos, or interact with other customers, we invite you to visit 3D 101, our customer center about everything 3D. |
